MIAMI (CBSMiami) — A group of foster kids in Miami-Dade are getting some help as they age out of the system.

About 20 teens aging out will receive $200 to get what they need as they prepare to start independent lives.

“These benefactors are providing our youths who are aging out of the system with a critical opportunity to purchase basic goods as they set out on their own,” said Nelson F. Hincapie, president and CEO of the not-for-profit Voices For Children who set up the event.

Another group of kids and their foster families will also be getting  $100 to shop for clothes, toys and school supplies. They range in age from infancy to 18-years old.

The group will be stocking up on needed items at Walmart located at 3200 NW 79 Street starting at 10 a.m.
